Happy Hour Indeed!
It's a Route 44 lemon-berry slush. For a buck ten. And the sun is shining, and I have the car to run errands. Yes, indeed. It's a happy hour!

Especially Dangerous After Drinking...
I spent the evening with Lynch in BoD, which, of course, included enjoying wine and such. I had enough to be a bit tipsy, which made walking down the completely frozen path a little more dangerous than usual. I didn't fall, but I did laugh at myself quite a few times. I ended up on the soggy grass more than once, because I figured muddy boots was better than a busted bum.

Thanksgiving Early!
Lynch and I travelled down to Edinburgh today on the Megabus (with a lot of rugby fans, going to see Scotland play the Springboks of South Africa at Murrayfield, where I would have been otherwise) to see Paige while she is dog-sitting in Stockbridge again. We got in and it was raining and cold, so we opted to not do sightseeing today but instead to do Thanksgiving!
Paige had already shopped and was all prepared to treat us to a feast, so we went back to the flat and helped cook. Well, partly-- I helped a little, then went to watch the match online. We won! It was great. But I digress.
We had turkey breast (no whole turkeys found yet), stuffing, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry stuff, almost-from-scratch rolls, green beans... and pumpkin pie! The real stuff. Oh baby, it was yummy. All of it.
We also had wine, of course, because Lynch and I were present. We picked one to uncork, and it gave us a run for our money. Finally we were successful, after a strong joint effort. Teamwork, totally.
Thanks, Paige, for buying and cooking and hosting! Happy Early Thanksgiving!

Party Night!
Brian and Steph threw a party tonight at their place, for Brian's students to get together-- and to celebrate my passing and being done! I found out yesterday that my corrections are sustained and I get to actually graduate at the ceremony, so I have good reason to party! There were several couples there, three of whom I'd only met once or not at all; it was nice to meet and chat and hang out, but the best part was once those with wee ones went home and left the Brocks and the Prathers and I. Good times with good friends, indeed!
I walked home in the wet and chill, but I didn't feel it. Partly because of the warm fellowship I'd shared, and partly because I'd had two large glasses of wine, two drams of nice whisky, and a glass of champagne on one plate of delicious food. I was feeling darn good, and I deserved it! It was pretty, though, with the lights shining on the wet roads. At least I thought so. ;)

The Aftermath
This is a sign of a very good Friday night....
Coffee. Wine. And milk shaks. With Lynch. If only every Friday night were this good! =)

Because I'm The Doctor
Lynch had a girlie night at her hoose tonight, because her flatmate was out of toon. I was required to bring deviled eggs and Apples to Apple, and I complied with the request. In return, I was granted special status:
I'm saying it's congratulatory, not because I drink a lot. Of course.

Killin' Time
I wandered in to toon to see Lynch at work, and then I wandered my way down to see if anything was showing shortly. The nearest time was in an hour, for Piranha 3-D. Plenty of gore and killin' in that one-- and a total waste of my time. Even me, who loves cheesy horror flicks. This one wasn't 'so bad it's funny'-- it was just really bad. I hated it.
But to kill time before the film, I took myself down to Starbucks to drink an iced americano with some syrup or other (yes, in my hot cup. They looked at me weird, too, but it was what I had with me. And it's 25p off with your own cup.) and wrote on a letter for a while. Much better time than the hour and a half following it...

One of My Five a Day?
I think this should count. Seriously. It's made from real oranges.
I have discovered that I like this. A lot. I don't usually like things that are orange-flavoured. I love real oranges, and orange juice, but never orange-flavoured. However, I've taken to putting this in with some 'American' cream soda, and it's delicious! I don't like orange soda, but this? Me likey! It's also incredibly delicious in fruit punch and other kool-aid flavours, and in hot chocolate. Versatile.
If only I could count it towards my 5... =D

Ah, Friends
What would I do without y'all, my friends? I don't know, honestly.
Today, Lynch took me grocery shopping. I hate that I am in such dire straights that my friends have to buy me food to eat. I love that my friends love me enough to buy me food to eat. And I got to cook a real meal to enjoy with a real friend. I taught her how to make my favourite chicken pot pie, which is sinfully easy and tastes heavenly. I also made a chocolate pecan pie, because I wanted to and had the ingredients on hand.
We had cider to go with the pot pie. Then we had budget bailey's to go with the pie. And we drank all of it. Both of them. Then laughed. A lot. =D
Thank you, friends. For all the things you do for me, and for the blessing you are in my life.

Friend of the Week
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I just inherited some GREAT new clothes from Paige. She's so fashionable, and I like it when I benefit from that. That's only part of why she's the friend of the week, though....
Oh yes. That's a) a bag from dear old Lexington and b) full of yummy sticks of delightfulness to put into my bottles of water! Yippee! So I got clothes, and yummy water stuff, and a bag of flavoured coffee. Bliss. Definitely friend of the week, Paige. =D

Sad
Today I'm sad.
I haven't had a friend leave in a year and a half. I used to be more used to it, back when people were deserting me every couple of months... but not now. I'm not used to it at all. And I don't like it. Even though I'm happy for people when plans work out, and excited for them and their next adventure, I'm selfish. I want them to stay. Here. With me. *sigh*
I haven't really done much today... but I did take a two-hour bath. With a fancy adult beverage, and music, and a book. And sugar-cookie smelling bubbles. It doesn't make up for people leaving me, but it was nice.

Thesis-Writing Day-Retreat
Lynch is currently house-sitting for two families in the BoD, so we had a writing day retreat at one house. Honestly, I didn't get much done. But then again, I hadn't seen another person for days... and there was wine! And food! And wine! Oh wait. I mentioned that already.
These are the bestest wine glasses ever. You can fit like half a bottle in one glass. That's my kind of serving. =D

Really Cheap Wine
Actually, it's not that bad. It was 3 for £10, so not great, but... I had to travel with it home, from Alva to Aberdeen. This was just easier.

Philoso-tea
Liz gave me some Aztec spice choco-tea, cos she thought it was gross. I think it's okay. And they give you fortune-cookie type fortunes in it. What's not to like? Here are mine from the past few days:
