Today is the last day of August, which makes it feel to me like the last day of summer... even though that's not technically for another couple of weeks. It always was sunny and quite warm, compared to what we've had recently. Since I had to be on campus to drop off my last-ever timesheets for my NMPA work at the Hub, I decided to wander down in Seaton Park to see if the flowers were still blooming in their gardens.
They were. I took lots of photos of them. They'll pop up somewhere else soon.
I just thought, this could be the last sunny day... the last time I'll get to see the blooms in Seaton... the last time I work in Scotland... the last of lots of things. I do not like to be thinking this way, because I do not want to leave. And yet, I'd rather be preparing myself a little bit for the worst, just in cases. *sigh* Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Just a Wee Bit Windy
Through last night and continuing into today, we've had serious rainstorms and gale-force winds. Makes me glad I'm spending it inside with my leg on ice... well, inside, at least. I've been trying all day to get a decent shot that shows the strength of the wind, but nothing quite covers it. You can't see the wind, and that's my problem. This is the best I did, of the flowers across the way.
At times, when it gusted, they were flying nearly horizontal... but I never could catch that, of course. By the time I clicked, they'd swung back down. Oh well.

Brrrrrr.
So I have somehow managed to unravel a bit of my left calf muscle (muscles, actually) where they join the tendon. No idea how I managed that, but it's been hurting me all. week. long. After doing all the usual stuff for strains (of which I am all-too-used to, as I'm a clutz), after four days it was no better. So yesterday I went to the GP about it, which is where I found out it's a wee bit frayed. And that it wasn't dumb of me to go in about it, after it not getting better--which is nice to hear, because I am such a worrier by nature that I often worry I'm worried for no good reason. Anyway. She told me yesterday to go straight home and put my leg up and ice it 30 minutes out of every hour.
What?! No way. I had plans yesterday, which included coffee with one friend, and McDs with another. Plus I had to get the prescription she gave me... and by the time I was that far, it wasn't any further into town...
Yeah, I pretty much disobeyed the GP. But today, I'm obeying. This is my handy-dandy homemade gel pack: washing-up liquid. It's not the good kind (here, that's Fairy, but I do sorely miss Dawn...), but the cheap-o kind. Still, it works. It's cold, it gets mushy as it thaws so it moulds to me, and it doesn't drip water everywhere. I hear putting a little liquor in with it makes it even better, but I'm not about to waste good alcohol.
Thirty minutes of every hour is a dang long time. Especially when it's already chilly in here. Brrrrr!

Things I Don't Get
So that could be a very long list... but today's entry is this:
Why, if you are going to use all the same buns for every burger you make, can you not then make the burgers all the same width so they at least fit on the bun? I mean, seriously, McD's. I don't like that half my burger hangs off the bun. Especially when y'all are so sloppy in putting them together that it also means half of the ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions are always ALSO half off the bun. Thanks for nothing, cheap-skates.

Does What It Says on the Tin
No, really. It worked! ;)
I've been using this body wash for a wee while. I started when I was really pushing to finish my thesis, and I needed to 'keep calm and carry on', as they say. And it worked! I finished! And submitted!
Of course, now I need to keep calm until my viva... and then until I hear about my visa... or whatever order that may occur in. And I ran out of body wash. Naturally. What am I going to do?! It's the end of the calming!! Help, somebody! Hellllllp!
Tee hee.

Making Up for Lost Time
I spent my evening here, watching The Expendables and The Karate Kid. Both were okay.
This month, I've seen more films in the cinema than I have in the rest of the year combined. Woot for being done, and woot for an unlimited card! I'm totally getting more than my money's worth, for as long as I can...
