Finally!

I spent all day fighting with this freakin' router.  I plugged and unplugged, started and restarted, set and reset.  Nothing worked.  There's a place for the wireless to broadcast, but no light.  No matter what I did.  Finally, when mum got home, I got her to call her ISP.  The guy walked me through enabling the wireless, because they just automatically ship out the routers with it disable.  WHAT?!  Why in the world would you do that, when the way it's set up you can't access the broadcast unless you have the SSID and all from the bottom of this particular router?!  I mean, seriously.

Finally, though, I'm online on my own lappy for a change.   Thank you, Jesus, for small miracles.

I Just Ran Out of Room...

and I'm too cheap to pay for more space for my photos from Google.  I thought about moving this blog here, but honestly I can't be bothered right now with keeping up blogs on two separate sites (not that I'm very good at keeping up with more than this one, and even that... well, you know.  You follow.).  So instead I decided to take the plunge and make my first blog book.  Thanks to my friend Becky, I knew that Blurb does them... so I checked them out.

And I loved them!  It was so easy!  They imported everything for me, and then I could tweak it.  There were lots of choices, and I think it's gorgeous.  See for yourself, if you like, right here

So I think I'm going to just keep doing this every so often, as I run out of room and as I have some spare money.  I've already deleted the old posts from my first six months, because really, who goes back and reads those on here?  I don't even do that.  But in a book, I'll not just have them but actually look at them.  I really recommend Blurb, and not just for blog books.  =)

(Although I'm going to post this in the place where I ran out of space in my dated photos, it was actually 24 March that all this happened.  Because yes, I'm that far behind.)

Bowling

It's all good family fun, til Daddy somehow manages to let Miss Moo drop her bowling ball on her toe... luckily this was before all that.

You've Got To Be Kidding Me

This greeted me when I got up.  I cleaned the litter box last night, for crying out loud.  I could pretty well throttle them just now...

Pecan Pie: Fail

Oops.  I forgot to pay attention to time, and I don't have a kitchen timer.  So the pie didn't exactly turn out right.  But I could scoop it out and eat it in bits like this, and it tasted just fine.  It just didn't look good at all...

Treachery!

Aberdeen is silly.  They salt the pavements (sidewalks), which causes the snow to melt, leaving standing water, which then freezes into ice.  It's horrible to then try to walk on.  Especially on side streets like the Spital.

Brodie Strikes Again

This cat is a menace!  Everytime I turn around, he's knocked something over or broken something or mangled something.  Seriously.  I'm not sure if he's just clumsy, or if he doesn't realise how big he is.  Today I came out to the kitchen to find this on the floor:

Seriously, cat.  You're lucky you're so cute.

Symbolic

Today was a bad day.  It felt like this:

Everything feels black.  My hopes, dreams, expectations, plans... are dead now.  I know intellectually that there will be light again, that there is a silver lining somewhere, but I am in no place to see it or feel it.  I'm not ready to look for it.  I'm miserable.  I feel like the life I have been living, and the life I want to live, is now over.  What's next but darkness?  I have no idea how to answer that.

I Hate iTunes

I have spent the entire day trying to get my music from my iPod back onto my lappy.  I have been putting this off ever since my other lappy was stolen;  I just can't be bothered ripping each cd, one by one.  I knew there must be a way to do it, even though Apple says 'No.  That can't be done.  Unless you own a Mac and bring it in to us in the store.  If you're a PC, well, tough luck.'  My friend Aleithia had shown me a site a while back when my iPod was frozen where I could get the stuff back onto my computer, in case we had to reformat the dang thing, but I couldn't remember the name of the software.  So I searched for programs, and most of them want oodles of money.  I'm not paying for this.  I finally found SharePod, which is free (and the one Aleithia showed me before), but it's been a bear.  It worked at first, and then seemed like it worked, and then didn't work at all.  I ended up having to take EVERYthing music related off my computer (all songs, all media players, everything) and then reinstall them all.  What a headache!  But finally, it all works.  And I have all my music pretty much where I want it.  Now Paige and I had better share our stuff like we planned, because otherwise I've gone through all this trauma for next to nothing....
I was working on my corrections during all this, but not very productively.  Oh well.

Very Bad Day

I got my visa stuff back in the post today, after six months.  And it hasn't even been dealt with, which means more questions and no answers, because of a glitch with the cheque (which I'm annoyed about, as I point-blank asked the international student advisor to tell me how to fill it in, and she didn't catch that anything was missing).  But check out those dates.  Cheque... letter... envelope.  Months in between.

Now what?!  I have no idea, but I have a feeling I'm f*cked.  Excuse my language, please.

Puddin'-Shame

Puddin'-tame, that's my name.
Ask me again and I'll tell ya the same.

I remember that wee rhyme from my childhood, and it came to mind when I went to dish me up some puddin'.  French vanilla.  Yummy.  Except... something's not right here:

It is truly a puddin' shame.  =(

A Typical Sight

... and yet it cracked me up.  This was spotted from the office of my counsellor, and I couldn't resist.  It's not a great picture, but it sums up the menace:

Those dang birds nest anywhere, and it's really not funny.  They are annoying as heck!  I won't miss them at all.

If I Weren't a Good Person...

I would totally have kicked that damn cat.  I came out of my room this morning to find this:

Oh my life.  That is just not on, Dill.  No more packets of gooey food for you.  Nope, dry food and water.  That's it.

Ugh.  I gagged cleaning this up.  It's a good thing I hadn't had my breakfast yet, but ugh.  Ugh.  Gross.

Crazy Day

I went to church this morning, which is shocking enough in itself, because my friend Scot was preaching.  I got there to find out that I was also a Scripture reader.  What?!  That was the first I'd heard of it!  But I'm good, I can read.  I actually like reading-- I just like it better when I know about it ahead of time.  =D

After church, which was good, I spent the afternoon with Carrie.  We went to a artsy craftsy show at the Academy, and got coffee, and just hung out.  And I bought new flip flops.  For £1 at Primark.  Why, you might ask?  Because it started pouring down rain (despite it having been hot and gorgeous on my way to church) while Carrie and I were out, and my flip flops were worn enough on the bottom that I could barely stay upright on the slick paving stones of Union Street.  It was seriously bad.  Carrie practically had to carry me!  These were much better, and I didn't slip at all afterwards.

Then I came home and started writing again.  The End.

Technical Difficulties

So we got robbed.  Someone broke into our flat whilst I was out at lunch with a friend.  Of all the times to not be home, when I'm usually home.  Figures.

I don't think I lost any pictures, but I lost all my work from the past six years-- except for an email copy of my last draft that Brian had.  *sigh*

I'm currently borrowing a laptop from the university, and waiting to hear what the police find or what the insurance will give us.  Until I have a computer of my own to put my pictures on, I'll have to take a hiatus here.  Sad, I know.

But I'm still taking photos a day, and I'll be back!
